Google Forms is a free tool that can be used through Google Drive. Users can personalize their Form to make it unique and cover what they want. Google Forms can be used for a variety of purposes including, surveys, quizzes, tests, questionnaires, bell ringers, and exit tickets. Therefore, students can take examinations on Forms, and it will grade the objective questions for the teacher. Also, it can be a method of communication between student and teacher because students can fill out anonymous Forms that ask questions or make suggestions to the teacher about the class. It is extremely user-friendly because creators can place all of their wanted material into one Form and make a layout in a way that is acceptable for that Form.
How can I use Google Forms?
I can use Google Forms for a variety of purposes in my classroom. I could use it as a method of communication for students to anonymously contact me. It could also be used as a student interest survey at the beginning of the year to learn more about each student. I would love to use it as an exit ticket for classes because I can get instant feedback on how students understood the lesson. Therefore, I can evaluate where students are struggling and how I can improve my lessons as a teacher, and I can make sure to remediate the misconceptions or common errors from the results on the Google Form at the beginning of the next class. In the Google Form I created above, it was used as a survey of student social media use and their opinion of teachers using social media in instruction.
Which Domain of the Danielson Framework does Google Forms Correlate with?
I think Google Forms could work with multiple domains of the Danielson Framework, specifically Domain 1, 3, or 4 . However, I believe that Google Forms correlates best with Component 4A: Reflecting on Teaching. As stated above, I would love to use Google Forms as an exit ticket after each class. Then, I can look at student responses to see how much they learned in the lesson, and where students were struggling to understand the material. Therefore, I can use Google Forms to reflect on my teaching and make improvements in my lessons. As a result, students in subsequent years will pick up more information from my lessons due to improved lesson plans.
