The main aspects of component 2A entail relationships between teacher and student and relationships among students. The goal is for all relationships in the classroom to be positive and encouraging both verbally and non-verbally. When teachers interact positively to students, it displays that they are interested and invested in them. Teachers can display their respect for their students by displaying positive body language, a caring attitude, politeness, encouragement, active listening, and fairness to all students. Positive interactions among students is vital because it ultimately creates a positive environment throughout the entire school. Teachers model this appropriate behavior, and students learn from it and practice it. Allowing for all students to participate without fear of backlash because students respect each others' thoughts and opinions displays a positive classroom environment. Even in heated class debates, respect should be enforced and maintained. Respect that forms the class environment is especially crucial because respecting others despite cultural, racial, or gender differences transcends the classroom.
