Domain 4 is about professional responsibilities as an educator. Just because a teacher is certified to teach does not mean that the teacher has completely mastered everything about teaching. Teachers must go beyond their everyday classroom duties and reach out to families and colleagues. They must also seek out activities that show a strong effort in continuing their own education and finding the most effective ways to enhance classroom instruction. There are six components to Domain 4, which all contribute to a teacher's professional responsibilities:
