In component 4F, teachers must practice and demonstrate professionalism to both students and the educational profession. Teachers must put student needs above their own needs. Great teachers have a strong moral compass that guides all decisions, and they know the best interests of students. Professional educators should display professionalism in all interactions with students, families, and colleagues. They also seek out resources and materials beyond the classroom to help students learn the content. By looking out for student interests, teachers should seek for greater flexibility in school rules and policies. Teachers must also adhere to school procedures, but they should actively search to change outdated ones.
