In component 3E, teachers must be skilled in making adjustments in a lesson to respond to changing conditions. Well-planned lessons may not need any changes or adaptations, but there will likely be changes in everyday lessons. Experienced teachers can predict how a lesson will go and what changes can be made within the lesson. Teachers should persist in engaging each student in learning. When teachable moments arise in class, teachers should fully capitalize on those opportunities. When it looks like students are visibly struggling to understand a lesson, great teachers should recognize it and adjust the lesson.
