A classroom atmosphere that manifests educational value creates a culture for learning. There are three main concepts within this component: importance of the content and learning, expectations for learning and achievement, and student pride in work. Class work should require critical thinking and perseverance. High goals should be set for each student that encourages them to improve their skills. With encouragement from teachers and students, these goals should be difficult but attainable for each student. This culture of learning creates energy within the classroom, so they have excitement to learn. Although hard work and learning are emphasized, this culture should also be fun for students that allow this positive energy to flow. Teachers must display the importance of the subject they are teaching, so students feel it is meaningful to them. Assignments should be challenging and require high cognitive energy to complete the tasks; however, students should take pride in their work and interactions through their willingness to learn and belief their learning serves a higher purpose in their lives.
